Raggedy Photo

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Photos, particularly those from the mid to late 20th century, have not really stood the test of time. We all have boxes and albums of family photos from that era that are yellowed and faded from sunlight.

In this photo, taken in the early 1970s, not much is wrong except that it is badly discolored from age. So I’ve scanned it and adjusted the colors, making a digital copy that can be reprinted.

And for the eagle eyed amongst you – yes, that is me on the right. Mom rocked the homemade Halloween costumes!

Seasons Greetings

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

This young mom had a perfect photo for her families holiday greeting card – if only the background of the image were better! So she hired me to remove the background and replace it with something seasonal, and do some photo retouching to make it perfect. All I really had to do was remove some facial glare, brighten everyone up and adjust some clothing colors to work perfectly with the background.

This is the original – a great shot!

And this is the final result, as it will look in the photo frame she was going to use:

Photo with the Prez

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Qualifying as one of the more curious things I’ve been asked to do was this project. The young man wanted a photo of himself with George Bush – and asked me to remove the female colleague from the shot. Of course, in the real photo, I didn’t blur any faces but I thought it prudent for the purpose of my gallery. I couldn’t help but wonder what the story was behind this one – other than that her pink top clashes. But I don’t ask questions – it’s usually spouses and exes I’m removing! In hindsight,  I wish I had buttoned both their suit jackets…

Bacardi Clean Up

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

The woman in this photo visited the Bacardi Distillery in Puerto Rico and wanted a photo to remember the trip. So she asked me to clean up this photo on the left, remove some people and make a second, closed door. I also lessened a wicked sunburn on her face, brightened up the photo overall and cropped it.
